Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Dear Parents,

It is a great pleasure to welcome you and your children to this new school year 2023 – 2024 here in Ottawa Islamic School!

I have had the privilege to teach at different schools for a long time in both Canada and outside of Canada. I am going to be your child’s homeroom teacher for this academic year and my name is Eman Alazem! 

I will be communicating with you through monthly newsletters and on my website every Monday. One of the key elements in the classroom readiness is to have the right and sufficient school supplies; this will make our students ready at all times for the work at hand.  Click the link below to access:

Grade 1 School Supply List

· 1 large backpack (large enough to carry books and more) with child’s name in permanent marker inside the bag (most of student’ bags look same).

· 1 lunch bag (large enough to carry drink, snacks and lunch)

· 1pencil case

· 2 boxes of crayon (24 - 48)

· 2 boxes of pencil (please no “Dollarama”)

· 2 large glue sticks

· 6 white erasers

· 2 boxes of Kleenex (for class pooling)

· 8 folders (coloured package with pouch: red, blue, green, purple, grey, orange, black, yellow,)

· 1 ruler

· 2 pencil sharpeners (self contained)

· 1 pair Indoor running shoes

· 1 note book (½ page interlined, ½ blank)

· 2 note books (interlined, the whole page)

Please have items labelled (no pencils) with your child’s name, as it will save time.
