This school district has three major methods by which we measure student progress, and communicate that progress to the parent. They are: (1) report cards, (2) progress reports and (3) conferences/telephone calls. At Parent Conferences, teachers will have data which demonstrates mastery of power standards.
Report cards are issued after each quarterly attendance period (approximately nine weeks). There are four of these periods during the regular school term. The major purpose is to communicate, to both student and parent, the school’s assessment of the child’s progress with regard to the district’s educational program. Student performance is reported in terms of meeting district and state standards. These performance levels are indicated on each child’s report card.
Conferences between parents and teachers will be scheduled at different intervals throughout the school year. A conference is the best and most effective way to inform parents about the progress of their children. We request all other appointments be made in advance.
The staff and administration of Journey and the Natrona County School District #1 Board of Trustees understand the need to provide free and appropriate educational services to all resident school-age students. Those students who may be at risk and need specialized interventions to benefit from education will be assisted by the presence of the following district services:
Full range of educational services.
Response To Intervention (RTI) process
RTI administrative procedures
Some students may not be At-Risk academically, but rather behaviorally. Students who display patterns of concerning behavior will be tiered. School counselors take small groups of students to work on social skills as part of our tier process. The counselor or behavior interventionist will also pull students out of the classroom setting to talk when they report suicide ideation, peer or family conflict, or appear to need additional mental health or behavioral support.
What is a tier?
As a district we are required to meet the academic needs of the students that are not performing at the 50% in math and reading. A student is placed in a tutoring process when he or she is performing below the 40th percentile of achievement in math and/or reading according to more than one measure of progress (including standardized testing, screening, classroom tests and assignments). In the event that the educational team determines your child may benefit from tutoring services, a member of the team will contact you to obtain consent. If the team is unable to reach a parent or guardian, and if documentation exists that two attempts have been made to obtain consent, the educational team may proceed with providing services as they see fit.
Services will be provided utilizing a combination of pull-out and inclusion services at the determination of the team.
Students can not be pulled from recess, field trips, and any extra activities.
Tutoring services will be determined based on the availability and flexibility of the tutor determined by the team.
By signing the tutoring form you are doing your part to make sure your child(ren) will be academically successful.
