Have students read page opening and find their Learning Plan Doc in their Google Drive.
Review their top three questions. Discuss setting their objectives and have them write an objective for this activity.
Discuss the suggested challenges in the Google Doc.
(Librarian) Discuss techniques, tips, and strategies for scanning a large volume of choices.
Through guided instruction model how to scan, skim and select a source from the 4 challenge areas (scholarly work, book, film)
Students will scan, and consider a wide range of material and perspectives and collect them in their Google Doc.
After the learning experience students will reflect about what they learned about the content, the process, and themselves.
(CONTENT) Describe any patterns and observations that you noticed while scanning the sources. What follow-up questions do you have? Is there anything you think was missing? Do you think their is an bias in the sources that were selected?
(PROCESS) Describe techniques you used to be able to identify which sources would be most useful to you? Did you notice any text features or website design that allowed you to quickly determine what the sources was about?
(LEARNER) This experience was designed to develop becoming an inquirer. How are you more (or less) curious about learning about health and happiness? Were you able to work independently? Give and example. Do you think you have enough enthusiasm to sustain you? Explain.
