Goal:
Students will create a podcast in groups of one to three that discusses the long-term impacts of historical circumstances on individual and collective identities, two central themes/ideas to the text, and the ways in which historical circumstances impact our understanding of the text.
Rationale:
The podcast will allow students to apply analysis and critical thinking to the themes within the text while also exercising creativity and agency in their projects. Students will be able to answer the essential question and understanding with this assessment.
Standards/Criteria for Success:
Students must have the following components in their final fifteen minute (minimum) podcast:
Discussion of at least two themes of the novel with 4 specific examples of textual evidence per theme
Discussion of the historical circumstances that impact the novel
Support with at least two informational articles with two quotations from each
The impact of these circumstances on individual and collective identities within the novel
Discussion of the ways in which historical circumstances impact our reading of the novel
