Substance Abuse 

A substance use disorder (SUD) is a mental disorder that affects a person's brain and behavior, leading to a person's inability to control their use of substances such as legal or illegal drugs, alcohol, or medications.Young people who persistently abuse substances often experience an array of problems, including academic difficulties, health-related problems (including mental health), poor peer relationships, and involvement with the juvenile justice system.

Lynwood Unified School District (LUSD) values all students and recognizes that educating students on the illicit drugs found in communities is vital to guiding the youth in making healthier decisions for themselves and others. To support students' health, Lynwood Unified School District has developed partnerships through the Health collaborative to provide essential substance abuse resources and support for students and families.

Substance Abuse Services at Lynwood Unified School District include drug prevention presentations and resource tabling for students and families Lynwood Unified through the health collaborative provide services such as Individual counseling, group counseling, and education towards the dangers of illicit drugs.
