Nice to meet you!

I am Mrs. Avila, I teach 8th grade Math and Science.

This is my fifth year teaching and my fourth at University Charter. I am an Army Brat; born in Pensacola, Florida and raised all over, before moving back to my family's hometown, Hanford.

I graduated from Hanford East, went to West Hills College and transferred to Fresno State, where I earned my Liberal Studies degree. I have a one year old son and a wonderful husband. In addition to teaching, I love reading, writing fiction, roller derby, oil painting, and music.

I am big on learning by doing, so students will be using models to understand concepts in math as much as I can incorporate them (yay, Desmos!). I truly believe math can be a lot of fun and all of my students are capable of learning and mastering each new skill.
