Distance Learning Plans

What is Distance Learning?

Distance Learning means that learning opportunities are provided while the teacher and student are in different locations. This means that instruction and interaction between the teacher and student can be provided remotely in several different ways:

  • Teleconferencing or Videoconferencing using platforms such as Google Meet or Zoom

  • Use of videos, on-line educational software such as Smarty Ants, Achieve 3000 and Zearn, and packets to supplement the learning

Is Distance Learning the Same as Homeschooling?

No, they are not. The main difference between homeschooling and distance learning is the provider of instruction. Parents are the main providers of instruction in a homeschooling environment whereas in distance learning, teachers manage the instruction and assignments.
