Our 2025 production, "Shadow Warrior: Echoes of the Past," explores the training, meditations, and battles of the samurai of ancient Japan, while also being a reimagining of the 2015 program. Weaving original music and snippets of material from previous shows together, the first movement sees the band called to action by two soloists, which leads into the first big hit of the show. Other training scenes ensue through the rest of the first movement; throwing stars are even seen in the drill towards the end of the movement. The ballad deals with the meditations of our warriors after they have completed their training as they seek inner peace. The final movement represents a war between two factions; woodwinds and guard vs. drumline and brass. These factions are marked by differently-colored headbands; at the climax of the closing movement, there is a fight scene between the leaders of these two factions, which includes one dodging the sword of their opponent in slow-motion, and is mirrored by the rest of the band. In the end, our brass and percussion took down the woodwinds and guard in this climactic final battle.
Competitively, this season saw the band turn a corner, and achieve some incredible new milestones (shown below). This also marked the band's 8th trip to Ford Field in program history.
