Welcome to TMS Connect!

TMS Connect! is all about making connections while learning and sharing what students have learned to make a positive impact on our world. This new space in the Middle School Library combines the elements of Makerspace and a Connectivity Lab; we call this space TMS Connect!

Part of this space is to allow students to explore and discover STEM learning ideas and then share what they have discovered, made, and created with others either both in school and beyond.

“Makerspace” you may ask what is it? “A makerspace is a collaborative work space inside a school, library or separate public/private facility for making, learning, exploring and sharing that uses high tech to no tech tools…These spaces are also helping to prepare those who need the critical 21st century skills in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). They provide hands on learning, help with critical thinking skills and even boost self-confidence” (Makerspce.com, 2017).

What does this have to do with your student? TMS students will have multiple opportunities to explore and learn in the space either by self-choice to come to the library or thru a classroom lesson.

How can I help? Great question! The activities we will be offering are using many different types of resources. Many resources will be recycled items (your student may choose to participate in a challenge and bring home a list of recycle items that they will need). However some are everyday things from the dollar store, the hardware store, or even from home.

Please send ONE or more of these items into to school when possible!

We appreciate your assistance!

IF you are interested in learning more, follow the Tomahawk School District Library on Facebook for more information and pictures of our growth!

Finally, if you have a talent you would like to share, please contact me, I would like to offer small workshops for students on STEM related activities. (Thus, the LED lights on the list!)
