Meet The Team

Supervisors of peer-assisted learning are essential in creating cooperative and productive learning settings. These leaders keep an eye on peer-led learning programs, making sure that those involved have fruitful conversations, impart knowledge, and encourage one another's education. They offer direction, lead conversations, and foster an environment of positivity where peers can share ideas and deepen their comprehension of the material. In the end, these leaders enhance the entire learning experience for participants in peer-assisted learning programs by fostering the development of critical thinking, communication, and cooperation skills through their supervision.

"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." - W.B. Yeats

As a dedicated fourth-year medical student at Gulf Medical University, I am excited to take on the role of a PAL program supervisor. This program aims to cultivate a supportive learning environment, encouraging active engagement and the exchange of ideas among students. With a firm belief that teaching is learning twice, I am confident that my passion for education will contribute to positive changes in the PAL program this year. The Peer Assisted Learning Program plays a crucial role in maintaining effective communication between juniors and seniors, offering tutoring sessions and guidance throughout their medical journey. Understanding the significance of having a support system for academic assistance, I am dedicated to fostering a stronger, more confident student body.

Physiotherapy

As a final year Bachelors of Physiotherapy student I have had plenty of time to get acquainted with the stresses of medical school, in particular how to study for the immensely complicated and challenging subjects we as medical students face. I think it is the duty of all seniors to be the beacons of hope the juniors can look to when they need help in their most trying of times. I've been fortunate enough to have had some of the most helpful alumni's I could have ever asked for. With that being said, the Peer Assisted Learning Program takes initiative in continuing to provide a effective and efficient line of communication between juniors and their seniors for tutoring sessions and guidance throughout their journey as medical students. I wholly understand the importance of having a means of reaching out to someone for academic assistance. It not only makes students stronger and more confident in their academics but it also grants them the opportunity to expand their social circles and befriend students from other programs, overall building a healthier, more positive and closely knit community within our beloved university.

I'm a second-year medical student, and this program has really stoked my interest in teaching and collaborating with other organizations to support events, workshops, and educational initiatives. Tutoring is not just about helping someone else learn; it's also about learning for yourself as a student. I learned how to connect with a range of students and communicate with them in different ways by participating in this program and becoming a tutor during my first year of medical school. I bring a depth of knowledge and a passion for fostering academic improvement to my role as a tutoring supervisor. Having a thorough understanding of successful teaching strategies, I am committed to enabling tutors to motivate and mentor students toward achievement while creating an atmosphere that is conducive to learning.
