A suggestion form was created for stakeholders to provide input related to many areas of operation and initiatives. This form is available on our website and a link to the form is shared weekly with staff via our weekly memo, The Faculty Focus. Results of the form are reviewed quarterly by the GFC HRS Committee. An action plan is created or a communication is made, depending upon the nature of the suggestion.
GFC Teachers identified that student access to academic areas during lunch time needed to be changed. Hallways outside of classrooms were characterized as loud and discipline referrals were high due to a lack of supervision. We surveyed the staff and 60% identified that something needed to change (27% were neutral). A committee comprised of eleven teachers and four administrators collaborated to create a new practice monitoring students in the commons, to control access to the remainder of the building during lunch and to help to ensure their safety.
We started the process of organizing our decision-making matrix during the 2018-19 school year, but do fee like we need to take some more time to complete this process thoughtfully. The document below is very much a work-in-progress.
