Tickets for all LVA shows are sold online and at the door (30min prior to showtime)
There are three levels of Theater offered at LVA: Theater 1, Theater 2 (Acting for the Camera and Film Production), and Musical Theater Productions (LVP) Level 1 and 2. We are proud to be the ONLY middle school in the district that offers Theater course options!!!
Check out the information below to learn more!
"Im scared to perform in front of a group!"
"I hate talking in front of people!"
"I wonder what acting is about?"
"Theater seems fun. I wonder if I'd like it."
If you (students) find these things familiar, Theater 1 is for you!
In Theater 1, we learn the basics of acting and what it takes to put on a performance. Here's what we go over (in no particular order):
-Theater History
-Vocabulary (Theater space and performance terms
-Improvisation (making stuff up)
-Shakespeare (this is my favorite)
-Scene and speech perfomance (one of these is even with sock puppets!)
We even play games. A LOT of games.
Acting for the Camera and Film Production
Ever wanted to know what it takes to produce a film or TV show? Do you really want to direct? Try out this class! Theater 2 students build on basic acting techniques and performance styles discussed in Theater I, and use their skills to produce short films and TV shows. Here are some of the projects you can work on with your classmates:
-Game and Competition Shows
-Silent Movies
-Music Videos
-TikTok style shorts
-Instructional videos and news reporting
...and a lot more!
Students use their school provided iPads to create their filmed projects, they edit themselves, and we post to a secure site to share with our staff and students. Videos are even played at various events on campus!
Students must have taken Theater 1, or have previous theater experience to take the class.
Musical Theater Production
For experienced performers who love to sing, act and dance, LVP is the place to be. The class produces a full musical each spring, and a revue style production in the fall, collaborating with Choir, Band, and Dance classes. The class builds on information learned in Theater 1, Choir 1, and Dance 1, by putting it all together into a real, live production. Fun!
LVP is an audition only class. Students who audition but are not accepted may choose to take Musical Theater Level 1. This is a preparation class, designed to get students ready for auditions and build triple threat skills.
Look out for audition information every Spring!
The LVP class is made up of dedicated performers who love to be on stage! PLUS There is opportunity for students to join our crew, who work backstage to make every show run smoothly.
