The Birdie Lou Counseling Center provides FREE therapy services to those in Fresno County experiencing mild to moderate mental health symptoms. We offer individual therapy for adults and children (8 and older), couples therapy, family therapy, and a variety of groups to address a wide range of mental healthcare concerns. The Birdie Lou Counseling Center will also function as a training facility for therapists-in-training with local marriage and family therapy or counseling Master’s programs. All therapists-in-training will be supervised by an experienced, licensed, Marriage & Family Therapist. This model allows clients to receive thorough care at no cost either in-person or virtually.

The biggest behavioral needs include recovery from trauma and abuse, stress-related disorders, substance abuse and behavioral issues. The Central Valley has one of the highest poverty rates in the county, as they typically address both mental health and basic needs, such as food and clothing, with families. They support not only the children but the entire family, which exponentially increases the positive impact on them and their community.

It’s very difficult when a parent, stepparent, grandparent, friend, sibling, or anyone else in one’s life has a drinking problem. It affects how young people are treated and it shapes their world. Alateen meetings are where teens can find support and understanding from people their own age who are going through similar difficulties.
Alateen is part of the Al-Anon Family Groups; Al-Anon meetings are for anyone affected by someone else’s drinking. If there’s no Alateen meeting available to you, you are always welcome to attend an Al-Anon meeting. Meetings are offered virtually or in person.
