What is the Program Site Council (PSC)?
The Discovery Charter Schools PSC is a volunteer organization run by families and teachers. We support programs that complement curriculum, enrich school life, and enhance the school community. The PSC also ensures that Discovery staff and families can connect with each other and access the information they need to participate in school events. All Falcon staff and families are welcome to join our PSC!
Is the Program Site Council (PSC) a Parent Teacher Association (PTA)?
We are a group of families and teachers devoted to the educational success of children and the promotion of family engagement in schools; however, we operate outside the California State PTA organization.
What does and does not fall under the PSC?
PSC programs and events are designed to
Raise additional funds needed to support and maintain targeted educational programs and enrichment activities
Celebrate and appreciate the Discovery community
Ensure the Discovery teachers and families can access the information they need to participate and feel included
Will joining the PSC or volunteering in PSC events fulfill my family partnership agreement?
Yes, partially. In addition to your regularly scheduled classroom work shift, you can join the PSC or volunteer for events to fulfill your school-wide job. Taking on a PSC role counts as a school-wide job. Please see our Family Partnership page for more details about family involvement expectations.
How can I get involved?
Thank you for asking! We would love to have you join the PSC. Join us for one of our monthly meetings or contact the PSC President, Nell Redaniel.
