English Program
(Bilingual Chit Chat and Coffee Time with Ann)
The school introduced a fun and engaging activity called Bilingual Chit Chat Broadcast and Coffee Time with Ann. During the broadcast, students listened to interesting short talks in both English and Chinese, helping them improve their listening skills and confidence in using both languages. After the broadcast, they gathered for Coffee Time, where they had casual conversations with the foreign English teacher while enjoying drinks and snacks.
This relaxed setting encouraged students to practice speaking English naturally, ask questions, and share their thoughts on different topics. The event not only helped students improve their language skills but also made learning English more enjoyable and interactive.

This year’s Winter Camp was truly one for the books, with our exciting Reader’s Theater performance stealing the show!

The students had a great time celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at school. They played fun vocabulary game where they answered questions written on shamrock-shaped cards. Each shamrock had a word related to St. Patrick’s Day, such as "rainbow," "gold," and "shamrock."
The students took turns picking a shamrock, reading the word, and using it in a sentence. They laughed and cheered as they learned new words and competed to see who could answer the most correctly. By the end of the activity, everyone had improved their vocabulary while having fun celebrating the holiday!

While the image of a sprawling Easter egg hunt might dance in your head, it's a less common scene in Taiwanese public schools. Unlike some Western cultures, Easter isn't a traditional holiday celebrated within the local curriculum. However, you might stumble upon pockets of Easter-themed fun, particularly within English language classes. These engaging activities often serve as a window into Western culture, introducing students to new vocabulary and traditions through simple crafts or games. So, while you might not witness a school-wide dash for hidden eggs, some students do get a chance to experience a touch of Easter spirit in a learning context, emphasizing cultural exchange rather than large-scale celebrations. Here in YLJH we got you covered!

(Life Story of YLJH Foreign English Teacher Ann)
Meeting someone who makes an instant impression is always special, and that's exactly how I felt when I met Phoenix. I discovered she is not just warm and approachable, but also happens to be the new school director! As a foreign English teacher here in Taiwan, I deeply admire her dedication and vision for the school. Despite her important role, she has been incredibly kind and supportive.
Moving to a new country as a foreign English teacher has been an incredible journey, but meeting someone like Phoenix, our school director, has truly made it special. Despite her position as the director, she carries herself with such humility that our conversations feel more like catching up with an old friend. Her enthusiasm for improving the learning environment and her respect for cultural diversity inspire me every day.
Whether we’re sharing cultural experiences, or simply chatting about life in Taiwan, I always feel at ease around her. It’s rare to find someone who’s both a supportive colleague and a friend, and I’m grateful to have her as a part of my journey here. Knowing that someone like Director Phoenix is leading our school gives me even more confidence in what we can achieve together for our students.
A few months ago, our school welcomed a new co-teacher named Ruby. She is a dedicated professional and a single mother, balancing her responsibilities at home and at work with admirable efficiency. Since her arrival, she has shown unwavering commitment to both her students and colleagues.
Shortly after her assignment began, I experienced a medical emergency and was brought to the hospital. During that difficult time, Ruby was exceptionally supportive. She consistently checked on my condition and offered help in every possible way, demonstrating genuine concern and compassion.
Ruby is known for her friendly nature and enjoys being around people. Her presence in the workplace contributes to a positive and collaborative environment. She often shares food with me, a gesture that reflects her thoughtful and caring character.
Ruby has become a valuable member of our school community. Her professionalism, kindness, and willingness to support others make her an outstanding co-teacher and colleague.
