Spartan’s Wellness is a student-led initiative at Central Union High School in El Centro, California. We are dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and providing resources to help manage stress and anxiety in our school community. Through podcasts, social media, and campus events, we address risk factors like academic pressure and social challenges while promoting protective factors such as strong relationships and healthy coping strategies.
We plan to make Spartan’s Wellness a consistent resource made by students, for students, to use on campus. We aim to break the stigma around mental health and empower our peers to build a stronger, more resilient Spartan community.
Mental health awareness is important to us because we want to create an environment where our peers feel free to express the challenges they are facing regarding mental health. By raising awareness, we can create a compassionate community where everyone feels supported.

Our team successfully completed the online course for the Be There certificate. This training provides valuable knowledge on recognizing signs of mental health challenges, offering appropriate support, and connecting individuals with relevant resources. It also enhanced our understanding of the five golden rules essential for mental wellness. We recommend this brief yet impactful course to everyone.
