The completion requirements for all participants (PLC or Independent) are the same.
Complete a Self-Audit to evaluate the backbone in your own course and establish 2-3 personal learning goals (60-90 Minutes)
Earn the Accessible Course Design Basics Digital Badge (60-90 Minutes)
Submit an Attestation of 10 hours of professional learning.
Participating Independently affords the most flexibility. So if you want to participate, but want to do so based on your scheduling preferences, without requirement to attend any synchronous meetings, then this is likely the best pathway for you. Independent participants do not need to start the first week of the program. As long as you begin participating by Monday, August 2nd, you will have plenty of time to complete. If you plan to be on vacation, want to start right away and finish early, want to start in August, or want to have flexibility throughout, this is your best option.
In Short:
Fully Asynchronous
No required meetings
Complete anytime during the 4 weeks (*must start by August 2nd)
Faculty Mentors
Independent Participants will benefit from the support of Faculty Mentors - Faculty who have participated in a wide variety of online teaching and learning professional development and have the technological skills to support your use of Canvas and other academic technology. Each mentor will be assigned a set of Academic Programs to support, but you can reach out to any Mentor whom you believe best fits your support need. Each Mentor will be available to provide support through:
A Weekly Zoom Office Hour
Meeting with individuals in 1:1 Zoom Consultations
Replying to questions etc. via phone and email
Interaction in course discussion forums
All participants have access to TLi support throughout. This includes:
Drop-in Zoom Room M-F from 9am-3pm
Phone/Email contact
Option to book support session
Unfortunately, no. PLC's will need to get started the first week of the program. While it is possible to move from being in a PLC to being independent, it is not possible to do the opposite.
You will spend this time engaging in different learning experiences. The types of experiences you can choose are described in Options 1-4 on the Homepage. Option 5 is specific to PLC's. Plan on spending those 10 hours completing TLi and/or OneHE courses, reading and/or watching resources of your choosing, and/or applying your learning as you work on your upcoming Fall course(s). You are welcome to include attending Mentor Office Hours or meeting with a Mentor as part of this time as well.
The last date to begin participating is Monday, August 2nd. All courses will close on Friday, August 13th. Final submission of badges/evidence of participation is due by Wednesday, August 18th.
You will mark this on the registration form. The form is located at the bottom of this syllabi's homepage.
