ABSTRACT
The pandemic put a hard stop to all our study abroad courses. In my case, I designed and got the funding to run a 16-week experiential service-learning course that was going to culminate in a ten-day trip to Barcelona (Spain), where students would have applied the Sprint methodology to provide a solution to a challenge experienced by a B Corp. These courses got canceled twice (May 2020 and May 2021). I have decided not to let this stop me from providing our students with rich cross-cultural experiences. I have resorted to COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning). In Spring 2021, I will be co-teaching a course with Universidad International de Catalonia (Barcelona). We have been designing the course and creating a joint project in which mixed California and Spanish student teams will develop an Impact Business Model Canvas for US and Spanish social enterprises (service-learning component as an add-on).

Participant's Testimonial
"I listened to a recording of your COIL project at USASBE and was really impressed by your motivation to help your students have an international experience remotely. I too, had my spring 2020 trip cancelled [...] I had the idea of launching an online international experience and received a small grant to get started. I will be launching this project in the Spring of 2022 and your talk helped me get some direction."
