Instructors at CSUCI have access to a tool, PlayPosit, used to create interactive videos (read about how some CI faculty are using it in their courses).
PlayPosit is an interactive video platform that allows instructors to embed interactions, like quiz questions, into videos. When students are watching the video, playback stops when questions appear and students are required to answer before moving on to the rest of the video. This helps engage students by turning video watching from a passive activity into an active learning experience. PlayPosit can use your existing videos, videos from YouTube and Vimeo, or you can create a new video to use!
Added "pros" of PlayPosit for instructors include automatic grading and easy re-use for future courses.
To get an idea of what the tool can do, watch the sample video in PlayPosit below (and note that your PlayPosit will be built within Canvas). If the PlayPosit below does not load, open this page in an incognito browser.
We will help you:
Brainstorm ways to use the tool that fit with your instructional strategies
Show you how to caption your own videos via Zoom or in YouTube. Or check existing videos for correct captioning (i.e. YouTube Videos)
Provide time with our student assistants for feedback and testing, if needed.
Troubleshoot as needed.
We want this to be an enjoyable creative project. This is an ideal tool for you if you:
Have a course that requires (or suggests) students watch videos
Use Canvas consistently as the digital side of your course whether you teach in-person or online
Enjoy exploring different features in a tool, and testing different uses.
Enjoy attending webinars or watching recorded webinars (hosted by PlayPosit) to explore different ways to use the tool.
