This month I am reaching out not with more resources that get lost in the shuffle, but with a question for you. And I intentionally did not ask this question during August/September when there were many "get this done by..." tasks on our plates.
How can I help support the work you are doing in: curricular period, the classroom, or during your personal plan period?
Being intentional about time is essential. I am ready to serve in the way(s) that fit YOU best. I love being "drop in" available to you all, but I also understand how frustrating it can be when you make the trek to my office to find me not there. Sometimes when my calendar appears open I often am working in a variety of locations around the building or may be pulled for different tasks. For this reason I LOVE when staff add events to my calendar--there is an open standing invitation to you all--you can invite me to anything even the day of.
Do you (or other members of your team) want to set up a recurring planning meeting?
Do you (or other members of your team) want to use your curricular period periodically to get a look at how to use a new tool or instructional method?
Do you have an idea to learn from each other, but maybe require someone to help facilitate making that idea reality (class coverage so you can observe a peer)?
Have your kids introduce themselves like Inigo Montoya from Princess Bride!

Invite me in if you want to co-teach for a class to try it out with back-up or to have me model it with students.
I had two ideas collide today when one of our BVMS teachers was asking for ways to check student work during the lesson without losing time to intervene 1-1 or in small groups with students AND I had just read the Ditch That Textbook Daily Email about gamifying your LMS (the post was about Canvas vs Schoology--but Schoology can do it too!). It made me think of COMPLETION RULES and how amazing they are in Schoology. I pulled out and dusted off these slides for the screencast linked above.
Let me know if you would like help trying this feature in Schoology!
