It's year 2 for me at BVMS! I'm excited to collaborate with you all and spend more time working directly with teachers and students on your goals! After the dust settles in the first weeks of school, I will be working to learn more about your goals for this year and learning how we can collaborate to support them.
To start the year off, I want to point you toward some great resources and ideas for back to school. You will notice that I will be linking you to some newsletters from last year where I shared a few previously.
I would love to know if you try any of these!
If you are new to BVMS, please follow me on Twitter @JenMPage for ongoing access to things I share and find there! It is really the best free PD and WAY BETTER than TpT for sharing quality FREE ideas, templates, and lessons with a global PLN (Professional Learning Network). Is Facebook more your thing? The absolute best educator group I am a part of there is EmpoweredEDventure--it's a must join--especially if you want to try some Eduprotocols this year (scroll down).
Have your kids introduce themselves like Inigo Montoya from Princess Bride!

Need Play-Doh? I have 40 containers anyone can check-out and borrow!
These are my results from trying the Google Form, and this is what each student would get.
Do you Youtube something when you want to learn? I do this all the time for projects around the house, and most recently I used Youtube to learn how to change the laminator film in the library! Whether it's through Youtube or TikTok--learning from videos is awesome! My favorite channel is Gold EDU. It was started by 3 teachers in Pickerington and it is a wealth of info. Best part? In the description of every video (when you view at Youtube vs embedded here) they share a link to the relevant templates and lessons AND THEY ARE FREE! The only rule to get access to those links is you join their Google Group (but be aware you may want to change your email notifications for this group).
Recently I came across a REALLY COOL Executive Functioning Pre-Assessment activity that could be a great way to get to know kids (and how to support them) in your classes this year. See the executive skills image shown here? Those are my results from doing this Google Form Questionnaire. You can set this up to have kids do the form and with Autocrat we can get each student to get their own personalized skills chart AUTOMATICALLY (kind of like your PD Menu CEU Certificates)! Then in the lesson slides (gotta join the Gold EDU group above to see them) you have all the resources to use with kids when trying to grow them in their lower categories! WOW!
...have another personality quiz? Maybe something for genres in ELA? We could make our own best fit for BVMS scholars!
Want to see it in action like a student would experience it? Complete the linked form and then check your email! If you want to try this with kids let me know and we can get it set up to work for you or your team in about 5 minutes!
This is the Kid Whisperer and author of the book that many of you got from Dr. Gallatin last spring. To the left are the resources I shared previously. While we didn't get a chance to go to the Behavioral Leadership Academy in Cincinnati this summer, I would love to connect with teachers who have read or are reading the book!
Let me know if you want a copy and we can get one to you--even if we have to order more!
