Butterfly by Alyssa Lear
You are a butterfly.
Beautiful and unique,
Fluttering from place to place,
Weightless, carefree, a vibrant streak.
Your wings are like snowflakes,
No two are the same.
But it shows all the time it takes
To craft every inch of your perfect frame
But to be a butterfly,
You first had to crawl,
A Caterpillar inching,
Perhaps feeling small.
You crawled through life.
Inching to the next day,
The next minute,
The next moment.
Longing to stand out,
Yet blending with the rest.
That life,
That part of you,
That Caterpillar,
Had to fade.
You had to shed that skin,
To let something new begin.
To leave behind who you were,
So you could become
The beautiful, crazy, wonderful person you are.
Now you flutter,
Boundless and free,
A living proof
Of transformation's beauty.
Don't mourn the past,
For the you you used to be.
For the Caterpillar would look in awe,
At the wonderful butterfly the world now sees.
Falling in Love by Alyssa Lear
Falling in love is like the dawn
A quiet warmth, the darkness gone
The sky awakens, soft and bright
Painted in colors by morning light
With a glance or a fleeting touch
The things you do that mean so much
A quiet whisper, a silent smile
A feeling you hope will last a while
The past is gone leaving room
For something wonderful to bloom
Love finds its way and slowly grows
Filling your heart until it overflows
With each new thing the heart will race
A simple touch, or warm embrace
Love is like a dance or song
A place where your heart can truly belong
It’s a peaceful moment in the quiet night
With the stars above shining bright
In moments shared between you and me
A bond that grows so wild and free
The way you laugh, the way you care
The electric charge in the air
Falling in love is no ploy
It’s a journey to enjoy
The seasons change and the world will turn
But the flame of love will ever burn
It’s in a quiet, gentle touch
And the way you love me that means so much
Falling in love is a song for two
Forever sung in me and you
God’s Glory by Alyssa Lear
It’s amazing to have someone who loves you so much
A love beyond what words can touch
One who is faithful and always near,
Who calms my doubts and quiets my fear.
He is the one who loves you most
My Creator, my Healer, the Holy Ghost
God, the Father, three in one
Who gave His all through His only Son
He came and died and rose again
So my new life can truly begin
I am free and clean in His name
I will never be the same
You rose from the grave and saved me from mine
I don’t need another sign
There’s no match to your forgiveness and grace
We’ll fall on our knees when we see your face
Your love is fierce, steadfast, and true,
No matter what I’ve been through.
It gives me faith and moves my heart
And I long for the day we’re no longer apart.
You give me passion and a purpose
Your plan is special for each of us
Everything happens in Your will
I know my life you will fulfill
You’re my rock and my defense
I will trust in your promises
You create in heaven a home for me
For which I cannot wait to see
Until that day, I lift my voice
In Your name, I will rejoice
The Winter Walk by Alyssa Lear
The snow crunches beneath my feet,
The only sound on the vast wilderness.
It covers the ground like a white, crisp sheet
Bringing peace amongst the cold’s bitterness
The wind whistles as it whips through the trees,
My lone companion on this long journey
It sets my heart and soul at ease
The sounds of nature all in harmony
The sun glints of the snowy ground
Giving everything a soft, sparkled glow
This journey that I am taking I have now found
Leads to peace that sometimes only silence can show
When the world rages fiercely all around
And peace seems to always be out of reach
Getting away to let yourself be found
Is the lesson that nature will teach
The snow covered trees stand still and tall
Silent witnesses to my wandering pace
It reminds me that through it all
There’s beauty to be found in every season and space
As I walk on, the path fades from view,
But I feel no fear, only calm instead.
The wilderness whispers what’s timeless and true
That peace lies within, not in what’s ahead
