About the Company
Aspen Salon is a hair salon located in Provo, Utah. It has been open since 1996 but was taken over by new ownership in 2011. The company has around 15-20 employees. They specialize in giving haircuts and color for kids and adults for men and women. They also have specialists for all hair types. They are rated highly in the community and provide top service for their field of work.
What's the Problem?
Aspen Salon has a very high turnover rate. They often lose their employees very quickly because of young stylists starting families or finding different opportunities. The owner finds herself training new employees for numerous hours and then these employees do not stay which is a substantial loss of time and money for the business. The owner feels that they need to improve their training program so it does not consume her time and money when onboarding new employees.
Solutions:
Creating training videos that new employees can watch at home
Organizing convenient training times
Creating incentives for staying longer (Ex: 2-year, 5-year, 10-year pay bonus or increase)
Surveys to evaluate the effectiveness of training sessions and training videos
