This webpage will showcase my teaching role as a librarian, emphasizing the value of collaboration in enhancing research and information literacy throughout the semester. In English 110, I worked closely with students and the instructor to tailor a three-part curriculum that teaches students how to identify and evaluate resources, develop effective search strategies, and create annotated bibliographies. For Biology 260, I provide customized support in designing scientific studies by providing relevant resources and frameworks to develop research questions and offering individual and group consultations to guide students through their research projects. In English 105, I introduced students to Mike Caulfield’s SIFT model to verify media and web information, followed by a lesson on search strategies and finding credible secondary sources.
In the classroom, I’m also exploring the idea of dynamic teaching by changing the classroom setting and organizing students into groups like a university graduate seminar or professional setting to increase engagement and provoke critical thinking skills. I encourage dialogues with students to make them feel appreciated, validate their ideas, encourage participation, and gain insight into students' thoughts so that I can address them. Through these strategies, I aim to foster deeper engagement and contribute to student academic success.
