Welcome to  SMCCCD Open Education Week! 

Open Education Week is a global event that seeks to raise awareness of free and open sharing in education and the benefits they bring to teachers and students.  During Open Education  Week or #oew2022, we aim to connect all of our district community to the wide array of webinars and discussions within the larger OER community locally and nationwide. Student access to their course materials is a significant barrier–not just during these times, but generally speaking.  As faculty, we can support our students and their learning by choosing and developing high quality course materials that they can afford. The best way we can do that is through the use of open educational resources, or OER. 

Open Education Week,  the first full-week of March,  raises awareness around how open educational resources can reduce barriers, increase access to course materials and drive improvements in education through open sharing and digital formats. SMCCCD  joins hundreds of higher education institutions and associated organizations around the world in celebrating Open Education Week every year as part of our Zero-Textbook Cost program. Join us March 7th -11th, 2022 for a week of activities that increase awareness for students and faculty and celebrate textbook affordability for all!
