Challenge yourself to help our community
The BIG Challenge is an initiative where students participate in a series of actionable challenges that promote physical and mental wellbeing which ultimately support our local Sheffield charities.
Its purpose is to provide opportunities for students to do something different that benefits both themselves and a local charity. Plus, it's a chance to have some fun through friendly competition, contribute to the Hallam Award for those pursuing it, win some special prizes and do some good for our community.
Decide which individual or group challenge you want to tackle (see the options below for more info) - You can do more than 1 challenge!
If you want to take the group challenge you'll need to find 3-4 other SHU friends who want to take part (one member must be from the College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences)

Individual 30-day challenge
Try something new for 30 days and collect items for charity
In this Individual Challenge, you have 30 days to make an impact in doing something that also benefits you.
Pick an activity that you would like to try for 30 days (e .g. hoola-hooping, meditation, drawing, poetry or doing a certain number of pressups/situps/lunges each day). Alternatively, you could spend your 30 days using social media to raise awareness of your chosen charity and the work they are doing while collecting donations.
Promote what you are doing via social media and ask for donations specific to your chosen charity: depending on your charity, it can be collecting food or toiletries, or raising awareness on social media platforms.

30 Day Corporate-Sponsored Challenge
Raise funds with every km walked/ran
Get active with this Challenge! Each group of 4-5 students will have 30 days to walk (or run if you're feeling ambitious) as far as they can using our Strava account. For every km travelled, a corporate sponsor will match a donation to one of the four charities that you designate. The more you run and post it on social media, the more you could raise for your charity!
