This will depend on whether you are on a leadership, research or education placement. You will usually be working with a small group of other students.
Students on a leadership placement will usually have a project to complete.
Students on a research placement will usually be involved in some part of a research project i.e. writing a literature review, collecting or analysing data.
Students on an education placement will usually be involved in teaching or supporting teaching.
You will need to contact your supervisor prior to the placement to introduce yourself and give them an overview of your previous experience, as well as any learning needs you may have. You can ask any questions you may have at this point and arrange to meet them to discuss the placement.

Be prepared before you start!
These placements usually involve some independent home working so you will need to have a good home working environment and a laptop / computer to work on.
Your placement supervisor will inform you of any requirements but ensure you ask before your placements.
This will depend on the placement. The expectations are the same as for any other placement.
This type of placement is often hybrid so can consist of face to face and online aspects as well as independent working. Your supervisor will advise you of the requirements.
These placements usually require you to meet other people in a professional environment either face to face or online.
You need to ensure you are professional at all times. Wearing your SHU uniform (polo shirt) is usually helpful.
Ask your supervisor to confirm what they would like you to wear.
You will usually have an individual supervision session and a group supervision session each week. This may be with your placement supervisor or a long arm supervisor.
You may also have some peer support sessions during the placement. If you are working in a group you will be able to support each other.
