THE HELPFUL ARENA TEAM HERE
The purpose of the HELPFUL ARENA TEAM is to be super friendly and helpful to people attending the festival!
You'll be working 3 x 8 hour shifts between Thursday and Sunday, plus an induction and training on Wednesday and Thursday, with one full day off to enjoy the festival and free time when you are not on shift (PLEASE NOTE - Your specific day off is determined by the Team Manager and is not arranged until after we arrive).
You'll get to enjoy lots of the festival as you'll be working in the arena and have plenty of time free to enjoy the music, the rides, and other attractions.
You'll receive training and work with the Team Leader to ensure you are familiar with the Festival Arena and key information such as where facilities are and performance times, so you can anwer any questions from festival goers. You'll work in pairs or trios, so will never work alone.
Keep reading below for more info...
WHERE WILL WE STAY AND WORK?
Working as a HELPFUL ARENA TEAM member means you camp on the staff campsite with everyone else from SHU who is volunteering in the Helpful Arena Team, some SHU Festival Interns and a couple of staff members. This is not the general festival attendee camp, it is separate and secure from general admission areas and other festival- goers.
Just you? No problem, you can be confident that you'll work and camp with other SHU students on lots of different courses, we make sure that no one is left out! We have onsite SHU staff and interns, who are there for you, to make your experience a great one.
You will need camping gear - tent, sleeping bag etc -- we camp together in the staff camping area and you must camp with the SHU possey. See the KIT LIST page. Word of warning - it can get chilly at night!
Tent sizes are restricted to +1 more than the number of people in your tent. E.g. 1 person in a max 2 person tent, 3 people in a max 4 person tent etc.
PLEASE NOTE IMPORTANT INFO:
You'll need to be available for the dates shown.
LEEDS Festival is a 70,000 capacity festival, is very busy and can be noisy and full on at peak times.
You'll walk a lot each day, to and from the campsite and whilst working.
We will hold briefing sessions in March, April and June and information will be sent to you by email. It's really important that you respond to emails and any requests for information promptly, so please check your emails regularly.
You will be required to undertake Health and Safety Training and we'll check your right to work in the UK, before we go.
Please see the web pages to find the answers to questions as well as any information we think you may need to know!
If you have any further questions please feel free to contact:
Oli Steele - O.Steele@shu.ac.uk
