Haadiyah Abdullah (Student Co-lead) along with students from across nursing and Midwifery and Allied health professionals came together to launch the new prayer room and ablution facility on level 6 of the Robert Winston Building.
The initial request was forwarded by Shirley Masterson-Ng (AHP) as students had raised the issue of no facility in RWB. Ifrah Salih (AD&I) then pursued this and pushed it to the attention of the multi-faith team and supported them in identifying appropriate rooms. Haadiya and Naheeda were then involved in ideas to set up and what was needed. Haadiya then led on the fantastic launch event with a number of students as pictured above - well done !
They had tours of the facilities and raised money for the Gaza humanitarian crisis by selling food, drinks and crafts - they raised over £500 !

Creative writing enables people to tell their stories in a way which means something to them and which provides an opportunity to communicate what something felt like. It engages our memories and feelings and our need for self-expression. Open to all whether you have witnessed or experienced racism.
This workshop introduced some easy writing techniques to help one feel relaxed about writing!
The main focus was to write about times when one had experienced racist behaviour or micro aggressions in their student / staff life at the university. No one was expected to share any of their writing unless they wanted to.
