Purpose:
The purpose of this organization is to foster a strong community and build connections amongst the students and faculty members within Scholl College. This is achieved via yearly events where students/faculty members from within the college will be able to present on a topic of their choosing and members of Scholl college will be welcome to come enjoy a night of stimulating conversation and socializing. Think of it like a Ted Talk. You choose a topic of interest, then you present it to the rest of Scholl College.
In the past we’ve had students present on their love for shoes, their recent research study, how to manage student life balance, and much more. This year, due to the circumstances of the country, Scholl Speaks hosted an event that gave Scholl College members an opportunity to speak on everything going on. The event was an open discussion in which Scholl members were speaking on their thoughts on the BLM/George Floyd death.
Becoming a Member:
Any Student of Scholl College is eligible to be a member of the executive board and committee of students that runs the Scholl speaks event. Staff, Faculty, and students at Scholl College are welcome to attend and participate in the event.
In order for a student to be fully recognized as a member of Scholl speaks, they will be required to attend ¾ of the meeting per event that is being planned.
Meetings: Meetings are held monthly or bimonthly if needed depending on the proximity of the event and the availability of the committee and the executive board. In the case of close proximity of the event with a lot left to do, the meeting dates may increase.
