This assignement had us look at our school districts plan for remote instruction. While the school district was fictional, I looked at local schools districts and applied different pieces to formulate my respones. It is critically important to understand how a school district wants curriculum implemented. This was a first step into understanding how I could deliver content and instruction to my classroom.
Communication is vital when working with students and parents in non-virtual school year, much more so in a virtual classroom. This assignment had me look at how I would communicate with my students and parents. Using such things as Gmail, Google Classroom, and Google Hangouts are all great ways to communitcate so that each parent feels involved and every student has access to achieving success in the classroom.
Access to reliable technology is the top priority for students when going virtual. As a teacher, it is my responsibilty to know which of my students have access and which do not. My personal plan begins on page three of the document. When having initail communiation with my students and their parents, it is a necessity that I ask about their access to technology due to the multitude of requirements that my students will need technolgy to meet. It is also vital to begin building a strong relationship as well so that students and parents know that they can rely on you and trust you enough to discuss the true nature of life at home.
Applying content in creative and collaborative ways while also allowing different prespecitves to come into the conversation is critical to student involvement and overall healthy learning. However, before that can happen, it is key that a classroom culture that is safe, respecting, and has open lines of communication. This assigment guided me through braingstorming how to think through what culture I wanted in my classroom. It was through that process that I began to realize that having students enterian different perspecitive from a local, national, and global perspecitive requires a space where encourgement to speak up repectfully and share their views is needed.
