Resume
My resume, and the work that is described within it, fall into the general group of Professional Responsibility. The service work that I have done at places like the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center aligns with this topic because I have helped create a supportive and safe learning enviroment for the kids in the local community. Moreover, there are times when I have had to relearn some of the content they are learning so that I can help them achive the highest level of retention possible. Leadership and collaboration are also represented on my resume. Being a resident assistant at Maryville College has given me the oppertunity to work on an efficent team to help create, plan, and impletemt different social activites for freshman residents. Lastly, many of the activites and organizations that I have been apart of have allowed me to engage myself in meaningful learning and professional development. For example, The Stewards of Traning certification that I revieved taught me to better notice students who may be abused and what to do if I suspect that a child is being abused.
Educational Philosophy
My educational philosphy focuses on what I want to see within my classroom and how I think it should look and feel. It goes indepth on how I have noticed that students learn in different ways and how I have and will acknowledge this fact within my classroom. This document falls under the group of standards pertaining to The Learner and Learning. With working with kids in a variety of different settings, I have noticied that students have unique ways of absoring information, and as a teacher, I need to apply this ideal to the way I teach and deliever content to my students. Further, the way I implement the balance of instruction and lecture style lessons so that every student has the ability to reach their highest levels of success.
Certifications
Being a Level 1 Google Certified Educator falls into the Instructional Practice category of the InTASC standards. Google offers a range of platforms for teachers to use to implement in the classroom. This aligns with the idea under Instructional Practice of teachers needing to understand how to design, implement and interpret data from assessments. Within Google, I will be able to test my students and gage there understanding via Google Forms, Google Docs, etc.
Tech Assignments
In my Educational Technology class, we accessed and worked through as assignment called "Preparing My Remote Classroom". This activity was published by the Tennessee Department of Education through their Best for All program. It worked us through building our classroom in a remote setting. It had us work through different lessons that incorporated how we would communicate to our students via an online platform. Moreover, it had us plan out how we would reach parents and students in a remote school setting. Such platforms as Google Suite and Zoom and were platforms that I incorporated into my classroom. Additionally, it had us look at ways to build and cultivate classrom culture and have a strong vision of our online classroom standards. These assignments fit into the Content Knowledge category of the InTASC standards.
