In the first 30 minutes of The Sandlot, we are introduced to Scotty Smalls, a shy and awkward boy who moves to a new neighborhood in the summer of 1962. Struggling to make friends, he eventually meets a group of local boys who spend their days playing baseball at a nearby sandlot. Initially, Smalls doesn’t know how to play, but with encouragement and guidance from the charismatic team leader, Benny Rodriguez, he gradually earns the respect of the others. As Smalls starts to fit in, the boys bond over their love of the game, setting the stage for a summer full of adventure and friendship.
