By default, you will be sent to the student's Progress Summary. Here, you will see the student's name and username, and be able to see a complete overview of all of the statistics D2L has gathered on the student.
In general, this is a lot of information to go through. However, you can narrow down what you see by clicking on one of the tabs on the left. Of particular interest will be the Content tab and the Course Access tab. Additionally, if you use D2L Discussions, Dropboxes, or Quizzes, you may find these interesting as well.
On the Content tab, you will find the Content Progress page. This page will allow you to see what modules and topics the student visited.
You will get the date and time of when the student last visited the Module. However, clicking on Details will also reveal information on the individual topics and course activities in that Module. You can see how many times they visited a topic, approximately how long they spent on the topic, and the time and date of their last visit.
An important thing to note here is that the approximate time is an approximation. This is especially true for links that lead outside of D2L.
Clicking on the Course Access tab will give you information on when and how many times the student accessed your course in the last 30 days.
Note that this page won't give you the time that they accessed your course, nor for how long. You may be able to corroborate times with the Login History tab, but keep in mind that students are enrolled in multiple courses. In this regard, it might be easier to use the Content Progress tab instead.
The Discussion tab will let you quickly view all the posts that the student was active in and/or has read.
It will also allow you to quickly go to any threads that they started or replied to.
The upper-left shows you the number of posts read, threads created, and replies. The upper-right would have shown an overall grade had a grade been attached to at least one discussion.
Dropbox Progress gives you details on dropboxes the student has submitted to.
This includes the grade, the number of files submitted, and links to the submitted file(s) and to your Inline Feedback on the student's assignment.
In the upper-left, you can see the number of Dropboxes the student completed, including any late submissions and Dropboxes waiting for a grade. In the upper-right, you can see the overall grade the student has on the quizzes.
The Quizzes tab will give you information on how well a student did on any of the quizzes.
Clicking on Details will show you the attempts that the student made and give you a link to view the attempt.
Similarly to the Dropbox tab, you can see how many quizzes were completed and any attempts waiting to be graded in the upper-left while the upper-right shows the overall grade.
