Sessions are held weekly on Cathedral Road, Pontcanna, Cardiff. Each session lasts 50 minutes. Currently my availability is on Friday afternoons.
Sessions are £60. Payments are typically made in monthly blocks of four, though weekly payments can be arranged if settled at least 24 hours before your appointment.
The purpose of the first session is to help you feel relaxed in the space and help us get to know one another. When you arrive at my offices, you will check in with the reception team and then take a seat in the quiet, comfortable waiting area; I will come down to collect you at our scheduled start time. The room I work from is a short walk away (less than thirty seconds) via a small staircase or a lift. Once inside, I’ll ensure the room setup works for you, point out the essentials like water and the bathroom, and give you a moment to get yourself comfy. When you’re ready, we will discuss what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to achieve and you and I will start to put a plan together. It can be helpful to bring some notes, but you don't have to have everything figured out—simply coming with an open mind and any questions about the process is the perfect way to start.
There are a few simple expectations taht help keep the space safe and workable; arriving on time, being respectful, and not behaving aggressively. Beyond that, there is no such thing as a "perfect" client, and you don’t need to perform or mask to do meaningful work. You are welcome to show up exactly as you are: this means there is no pressure to maintain eye contact, sit still, or have the words to explain things. If you need to fidget, stim, or move around to feel comfortable, please do! You don’t need to be "serious" or use a "therapy voice"—you can swear, use humour, or stay quiet if the words won’t come. We work entirely at your pace, so you never have to share anything before you feel ready.
If you feel ready for it and would find it useful, we can agree on specific work or reflections for you to do between sessions. This is entirely collaborative—we only set "between-session work" if it feels like a helpful tool rather than an added pressure.
Unfortunately I am not able to provide extra support between our sessions. If you’re feeling unsafe or overwhelmed between sessions you and I can make a plan to support you to manage this.
Yes, though there are legal and ethical exceptions (such as risks to children/vulnerable adults, serious criminal activity, or court orders). As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I also discuss my work with a clinical supervisor to ensure I am working safely.
I view therapy as a joint effort. I will regularly ask for your feedback to ensure our sessions feel helpful and like they have a purpose for you. I want you to feel comfortable telling me if something isn't clicking or if you're unsure why we are taking a certain approach. By being open about your experience, we can adjust our therapeutic style in real-time to make sure you're getting the most out of every 50 minutes.
