Before training to work as a psychotherapist I spent around fifteen years working primarily with adults who were experiencing challenging experiences such as domestic abuse or homelessness. I also worked worked delivered training, supporting communities and frontline professionals to create change and support people in crisis. I hold an MA in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Postgraduate Certificate in Integrative Counselling Skills from the University of South Wales. I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
My approach to counselling and psychotherapy is integrative, meaning I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and adapt my approach to suit you as an individual. Together we explore what feels most important - whether that involves making sense of past experiences, understanding patterns, or finding practical ways to cope with difficult emotions.
I believe in seeing the full picture of who you are. My work is neurodivergent-friendly and LGBTQ+ affirming and I understand identity as complex and layered - shaped by your background, experiences, and current needs.
I recognise that opening up about personal struggles can feel unfamiliar or difficult, particularly at first - especially if "just getting on with things" has been the norm.
I value the whole of who my clients are, not just the difficulties that have brought them to counselling. I enjoy hearing about what matters to you, whether that’s your creative practice, the causes you care about, your love for tabletop and video games or the books that have stayed with you. It’s important to me that therapy feels like a place where all parts of you are welcome and respected.
Sessions are usually conversational, but we may also slow things down, write things out, or use creative or representative methods, if that helps you understand your experiences more clearly. I work flexibly and responsively, adjusting the process to meet you where you are.
