I am a registered Art Therapist and Family Therapist and specialised mental health clinician, with post-graduate Masters in Therapeutic Art Practice from the MIECAT Institute in 2018 and Masters in Clinical Family Therapy through LaTrobe University in 2022. I use interventions tailored to clients needs, based on extensive research. I facilitate and support clients and families to develop skills, coping strategies that improve their health, strengthen relationships and reduce psychological distress. My registration with ANZACATA which is the national body representing creative Art Therapist in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia/Pacific region and AAFT which is the Australian Association of Family Therapy are current.
Tailoring to meet the needs of clients, I also integrate principles from Internal Family Systems. This therapy is a non-pathologizing approach that emphasises healing and personal growth.
Before taking up therapy, I have been extensively involved in Secondary Education as a teacher and working with families and children experiencing difficulties in attending school and ultimately school refusing.
I hold a Masters in Clinical Family Therapy through La-Trobe University awarded in 2022.
From my own family experience growing up and working with families I have come to appreciate what happens when a problem is shared. Rather than solely focusing on or treating the individual, it is good to encourage all relevant people in the individual’s life to participate in therapy together. The whole family plays an important role in the recovery and healing process.
My counselling experience has included working with clients experiencing loss and grief, trauma, relationship and family issues, clients needing conflict resolution assistance, clients with a disability and clients with mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression and Bi-polar disorder.
My approaches are systemically focussed and client centred. I have found that every client carries their own solution within, to (re)gain inner control and (re)direction of their life's journey.
