Special Education

Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Special Education entitles eligible children (ages 3 through 21) to a free appropriate public education (FAPE). Upon determination of eligibility, an Individualized Education Program (IEP)  is developed which identifies special education services necessary to ensure the child receives a FAPE.

Eligibility for special education in Vermont is determined by a team which includes parents, in accordance with the State of Vermont Special Education Rules.

Rights of Parents can be accessed on the VT Agency of Education Website under, Notice of Procedural Safeguards: Rights of Parents of Students with Disabilities
