Hello! I'm Mr. Fisher, your MVHS Librarian. I've been teaching and working here at MVHS since 2008. For most of that time, I taught in the English Department and loved it--especially helping students discover a love of reading and writing. In 2022, I moved to the MVHS Library and have been having a great time connecting with students and staff in new ways across the entire campus.
Here's a picture of me on a mountain hike. Know what I was thinking about? First, how tired I was and happy to be at the top. Second, what authors I've read and what they would write about this place. Some people think books keep you from doing stuff in the "real world." I think they inspire me to explore the world and truly appreciate what I am experiencing. What do poets and storytellers do, anyway? They try to capture the essence of what it means to be alive, to be human, to be connected, and to name what is meaningful about moments that are too easy to let slip away. Good writing gives us tools to tell our OWN stories about who we are, who we are becoming, and the (better!) world we hope to create.
So come see me in the MVHS Library! Maybe you just need a book that holds your interest for a school assignment. We can find that! Perhaps you want to read that famous author you've always heard about. We have that, too! If you're like me, you might want a book to help you see something about your own life with new eyes from an author brand new to the scene. If we don't have that already, let me know and I might be able to buy it by special request.
Have any questions for me? I'd love to help.
