Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is an evidence-based instructional framework designed to ensure all learners can access and participate meaningfully in rigorous learning. UDL is directly connected to and supports our Equity and MTSS work. Using Technology tools can greatly enhance how we interact with our students to provide multiple means of Engagement, provide mulitple means of Representation and to provide multiple means of Action and Expression. As part of our ongoing Equity and MTSS work, Mount Vernon is involved in several opportunities to support an increased understanding of UDL.
Our district was selected to participate in the WASA Inclusionary Practices Project which provides implementation coaching and asynchronous access to professional development webinars.
Multiple books studies related to inclusionary practices with a focus on Equity and Universal Design for Learning are underway with additional opportunities anticipated.
Our district has developed a direct relationship with Novak Education offering both 10 and 30-hour options of the UDL Now! course.
