The idea of this project was to give students the opportunity to see what English 101 will look like. For this project, we had two main final products: a Socratic Seminar, and a Timed-Write. We read several AP-level short stories and practiced our questioning and discussion techniques for the Socratic. I love this project because the students tend to carry out the new discussion techniques that they learned throughout the rest of the year, making it our norm and leading to much more engaging conversations.Â
