In compliance with the No Surprises Act, you are entitled to receive this Good Faith Estimate of what the charges could be for primary psychiatric services provided. While it is not possible for a psychiatrist to know, in advance, how many visits may be necessary or appropriate for a given person, this sheet provides an estimate of the cost of services. Your total cost of services will depend upon the number of visits attended, the amount and type of services provided and individual circumstances.
This Good Faith Estimate is not intended to serve as a contract, or a recommendation for treatment or a prediction of the need to attend a specific number of visits. The number of visits that are appropriate and the estimated cost for those services, depends on what a patient needs and what you agree to in consultation with your doctor.
Total time includes all of the time the physician spends on that visit on the date of service including prepping time (e.g. chart review), prescriptions, and anything done outside the visit (e.g. contacting other clinicians, ordering tests, sending referrals) after the face-to-face portion of the visit.
Primary Services (in person / tele-health / phone appointments)
1) Initial Psychiatric Evaluation / New Office Visit - up to 120 minutes $ 550
2) Established / Follow-up Office Visit
a. 25-39 minutes - $ 230
b. 40-54 minutes - $ 275
If the duration of the visit exceeds the above times, extra charges may be incurred. After the initial evaluation, the following are estimated charges for recurring follow-up office visits, depending on frequency and period of treatment:
For example, if a patient sees Dr. Rice once every 3 months, the total estimate for 1 whole year is $920-1,100. If a patient sees Dr. Rice once every 2 months, the total estimate for 6 months is $690-825.
There may be additional items or services Dr. Rice may recommend as part of your care that must be scheduled or requested separately and are not reflected in this good faith estimate. Examples include:
Participation in a Meeting: $275 per hour
Lengthy or Complex Written Report or Letter: $275 per hour
Prolonged Visit Beyond the Maximum Time Specified: $275 per hour
Other Fees:
No-Show $115
Late Cancellation (less than 48 hours) $115
