After reading the story, students work on identifying details from the story in their Reading/Writing Companion and a whole class discussion occurs utilizing additional icons.
Blank space in consumables can be use to draw in additional icons to extend learning for students
Students draw related icons in their Reading/Writing Companion. We often use Big Idea to identify what overarching idea we can learn from the story, Rules when we talk about fiction vs nonfiction, and any other icons that apply to the story.
After reading "What Do You Do With a Problem?," students used a frame to analyze the Big Idea, Unanswered Questions, and Across the Disciplines (how they could apply this to their life). Students then drew a picture related to the Across Disciplines.
Frames in Response to Reading. Can also be used in other subjects.
