My name is Ms. Castillo, and I will be your 5th Grade teacher this year! I’m so excited for a wonderful year of learning, growing, and having fun together.
A little about me: this is my seventh year in education, and I’ve had the opportunity to teach and work with students across a variety of elementary grade levels. I earned my B.A. in Human Development from UC San Diego, my M.Ed. and teaching credential from Stanford University, and my M.S. in Learning Experience Design and Educational Technology from Western Governors University.
One of my favorite things about teaching is finding creative ways to make learning engaging, meaningful, and fun. I also believe that building a strong classroom community is just as important as academics. My goal is for our classroom to be a place where students feel comfortable being themselves, taking risks, making mistakes, asking questions, and celebrating their growth.
When I’m not at school, I love taking dance classes, traveling, going on hikes, and exploring new restaurants! I’m always excited to hear about what my students enjoy doing outside of school, too.
On this website, you’ll find class updates, important information, helpful resources, and links that we’ll use throughout the year.
I’m looking forward to getting to know each of my students and their families and making lots of great memories together. Here’s to an amazing 5th-grade year!
Warmly,
Ms. Castillo
