Ancient Civilizations

We will be traveling through ancient times this year and looking at the lives of early humans, Sumerians, Mesopotamians, Egyptians, Hebrews, Chinese, Indians, Mesoamericans, Greeks and Romans!

Currently we are learning about Ancient Greece:

On Tuesday, March 20th we began our greek simulation!

• Students were placed into groups based on ancient greek city-states, that are called a polis. There are 5 poleis: Argos, Athens, Corinth, Megara and Sparta. Students will be working cooperatively together through many projects and activities over the coming weeks as they learn more about life in ancient Greece.
• Expect students to come home with reading assignments that will teach them about : clothing, gods & goddesses, daily life and even the Greek Alphabet.
• Students will be dressed in costume during their simulation (consisting of a flat bed sheet, yarn, safety pins and what ever else they want to add to their costume to make them look more authentic.

What are the 7 characteristics of an ancient civilization? All of the different places we are learning about this year have to meet all 7 qualifications in order to truly be considered an ancient civilization!
