Work Based Learning

Work Based Learning (WBL) is a program for students to gain career experience in a real-life work environment while receiving high school credits. WBL is for eligible Juniors and Seniors only. Please review the requirements below.

  • Must have a job by the second week of school.

  • Must have passed all classes the previous year and be in good academic standing (no need to repeat classes).

  • Must not have excessive absences the previous year.

  • Must not have discipline referrals from the previous year.

  • Must be able to work at least 15 hours a week (2 periods of WBL) or 7.5 hours a week (1 period of WBL). This does include hours worked on weekends.

  • Must not be involved in an activity/sport that has practice every afternoon, limiting work hours.

  • Must turn in monthly timesheets signed by employer.

  • Must conduct a quarterly evaluation at job site with supervisor and WBL coordinator.

  • Must complete all career/work ethics assignment each week (posted in Canvas)

  • Must clock out on a daily basis.

  • Must remain employed during the entire school year. 2-week deadline to find a new job if needed.
