Begin your college search process by looking at the slideshow below. The presentation includes information about how to get started with college exploration in Naviance, how to evaluate chances of getting in, the SAT and the ACT, visiting college campuses, and a timeline for planning.
Additional SAT & ACT Information
Juniors can take the SAT in March, May, or June, and again in August or October of their senior year. We recommend that students take the exam twice.
The ACT is a similar exam to the SAT. Colleges will accept either the SAT or the ACT.
What's the difference between the two exams?
Many colleges are now test optional. If you don't send your scores to a test optional college, it will not be held against you. For more information about colleges that don't require standardized test scores, go to FAIRTEST.ORG.
Test Prep Options:
Formal Courses (Kaplan, Princeton Review, Revolution)

Information for Letters of Recommendation
Many colleges require one or two recommendations and some may choose to accept additional letters. We recommend that students ask two core academic teachers from their junior year for letters of recommendation. Keep in mind that the best letters come from teachers who know you well as a student and a person.
Colleges will also require a recommendation letter from your school counselor. You do not need to submit a request in Naviance for this letter as counselors write a letter for each of their seniors. In order to write unique and personalized letters, we ask that students and parents/caregivers complete a survey.
Students will complete their surveys in Naviance by following the instructions below. Parents/caregivers will receive a link from the school counselor that will allow them to complete a Google form.
Instructions for accessing student survey:
In Naviance, click "About Me"
