Fulton County (Kentucky) Ephemeral Collection
MS10-21 consists of ephemeral items published or printed in Fulton County, Kentucky from 1891 to 1951. The collection contains programs, invitations, flyers, campaign materials, and other ephemera printed during the later part of the 19th century and early 20th century.
Fulton was a major west Kentucky railway hub and thus a gateway to the wider United States for Purchase residents in the 19th century, few of whom traveled far from their home communities. This is a ticket for the Illinois Central Railroad for March 1891.

Rufus L. Grogan Papers
Rufus L. Grogan was a Virginia transplant and doctor who lived in Murray from 1856 to 1918. MS73-09 has receipts from numerous businesses that served Murray families during the latter part of the 19th Century and early part of the 20th Century. Included with the papers are payment notes to the Murray Male and Female Institute from 1886 to 1892.
A check for $13.70, dated 1859. Checks and receipts are common in many of the Pogue collections relating to farmers and businesses, especially those from the19th century.

Beale Family Papers
The Beales were another early family that came to Murray in 1835. MS92-04 consists of correspondence, receipts, business transactions, and legal documents from 1835 to 1901. The bulk of the collection is made up of receipts and invoices issued relating to the tobacco industry, a vital cash crop for farm families during this era, from the 1850s to the 1880s.
A thousand dollar bill from 1840, when some paper currency functioned as a check from one party to another.
