Open House + free applications in November

November is Apply to College Month, so we will be waiving the $25 application fee the entire month, along with hosting several Open House events across our six campuses. These Open House events will give your students the opportunity to see our campuses and explore hands-on programs in high-demand career fields. They can tour our labs, meet faculty and staff, and get help applying for free!

Common Questions and Answers

1️. “Can I afford GNTC?” Most likely, yes.
Most students qualify for some type of financial aid, and many pay little out of pocket:

• HOPE Grant: helps cover tuition for eligible Georgia students.

• HOPE Career Grant: pays 100% of tuition for students in eligible high-demand programs who qualify for the HOPE Grant. Students still pay fees, books, and materials.

• Pell Grant: federal aid based on the FAFSA that can help with remaining costs.

• GNTC Foundation scholarships: awarded every semester.

• Payment plans: for whatever is left.

2️. “Do I have to fill out the FAFSA?” No, but we encourage everyone to.
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is free and not required to enroll. However, it’s how students find out what aid they qualify for, and many qualify for money they didn’t know about.

• Seniors starting Fall 2027: complete the 2027–28 FAFSA.

• Starting Spring or Summer 2027: complete the 2026–27 FAFSA.

3️. “Do I have to take an entrance test?” No, with one exception.
No placement test is required for admission to GNTC. The only exception is the POST (Accuplacer) exam for Basic Law Enforcement, which students can take at testing labs on several GNTC campuses.

4️. “What do I need to be accepted to GNTC?” Just four things.

• Submit an application at https://gntc.my.site.com/apply

• An official high school transcript

• Proof of lawful presence

• Proof of Georgia residency (for dependent students, this is based on their parent or guardian’s information)

5️. “When can I start?” Most seniors start Fall 2027.
Seniors can apply now and start after graduation. Applying early means no scrambling in July. Full academic calendars can always be found here.

6️. “Will completing a GNTC program help me land a job?” The numbers say yes.
For our 2025 academic year graduates:

• 99% total placement rate

• 90.5% placed in their field of study

One more tool for your students: Georgia Match
Georgia Match shows students which Georgia colleges they’re provisionally admitted to, based on their high school-calculated HOPE GPA. Students can find their list on their GAfutures Student Dashboard. Keep in mind that this is provisional acceptance only and doesn’t guarantee admission to GNTC or any other specific college. Georgia Match works with public and private accredited Georgia high schools. It’s always free for eligible HS seniors to apply to GNTC for free through the Georgia Match – GAFutures application process.
