Siauliai sports gymnasium is a school providing education for children talented in sport. It provides high-quality genenal secondary education combined with sport, which meets the child's natural abilities and educates a competitive personality, managing the integrity of knowledge, skills and values and being able to adapt to modern society. The majority of students come from different regions of Lithuania and live in a dormitory. They not only learn to combine educational process with training, but also to travel and to live in sports camps in our country and abroad.
Thus, in order to achieve optimal studying and living conditions for students we have to search ways to solve a variety of problems in studying and sport. To achieve this we have to look for innovative education solutions that would influence the student's success. Thus, teachers of our gymnasium try to improve their qualification in various improvement courses in our country and abroad and participate in international projects. Thanks to projects our school had the opportunity to visit schools and to share opinions on methods of teaching and learning.
One of the tasks and aims of school staff is to educate students to be environmentally friendly, to establish effective waste management systems in the dormitory, to help students’ families take action around reducing household waste. This is our motivation to participate in this project. Key staff has already been identified within school that are enthusiastic and ready to be involved in the projects. It is expected that 10 teachers/staff members will participate in project activities. Now at school a project preparation team is created which consists of 3 teachers and 1 representative of school administration which is responsible for ideas for future project.
